What a loss. What a legacy. Used to see him surfing at ditch all the time. He was one of those rare famous people who could interact with the common folk and it seemed (and likely was) perfectly natural.

there was (still is I think) an annual boat party off Barcelona Neck and he would cruise up in his big funky restored dragger or some sort of old work boat and hang out and enjoy the bands playing on the barge. Schmoozing with the locals as they floated and paddled around getting loaded in the sun.

I like to think he had it figured out
Oh no :cry: what a terrible loss. Jimmy Buffett was my hero. His songs formed my childhood idea of what a good life is and my romanticism of life with the ocean. I never grew out of that. As much as many of his best are about the fact that life is a journey that you have to enjoy while it lasts, and for what it is...this hurts a lot.
