Shorting the stock market before/after and in that "proposed" 30 day shutdown situation should be outlawed and result in public hangings, tar and feathering naked in the streets.

Massive corpo stock buy backs should ALL get huge scrutiny and over-sight. Any corpo that does, needs to be paying big % taxes on any gains from them.

you assume away facts that are inconvenient

2% fatality rate is insane on a national scale

you can’t just call that a cost of doing business

We are either going to back into a hard shutdown in increments or dive in head first

do it now when it will be more effective

buy time to build ventilators

You may hate ackman as a guy, which is fair, but listen to the interview and try to explain where he is wrong in assessing the situation

its all about the rate of spread and the relatively high fatality rate

we have seen this already in multiple countries and the only thing that has worked so far is a hard shutdown like China did

every other country is stumbling into the solution the Chinese ended up with

For most, it's less than the flu.

Risk groups need to lock down. Putting whole populations and every demographic group doesn't do anything but make you feel better. It's worse actually.

AT RISK: shelter in place, use curbside and deliveries.
LOW RISK: go about life, just don't congregate with anyone in the at risk crowd & generally leave them alone.

No one has died due to lack of ventilators. If risk groups lock down we won't need them. Enough of this straw man.

The treatment for this is testing, monitoring, self-quarantining if symptomatic. Everybody else should practice good hygiene and go back to work. If a short period is going to give us time to get test kits together, re-orient and make that change...great...but you can't outlast this virus in your basement. It's going to be here for years.

The cure is herd immunity which is built by exposure.

the hard temporary shutdown is to create a window to ramp up testing and ventilators

Once these are available you can identify the risk and let people broadly resume work

this is what is happening in China

We know who the risk groups are. Anyone who is older or immune compromised. For instance a lot of people with arthritis are on immunosuppressants and need to remember that....this could be any age group.

If we can get the testing together and sort out who has it and who doesn't in a couple weeks great. But this isn't really doing anything useful. Destroying the global economy for something that is only bad for a very select few people is stupid.

For the healthy, generally there is nothing that locking down is going to do. It really comes down to people are going to have be good neighbors and not go out when sick. If you get sick, stay home and get tested until you are clear.

Ackman is yelling fire in a theater. Hell isn't coming. If everyone is smart and unselfish this thing passes, like every other time.
