Australian sailor and his dog survive two months at sea

Mr Shaddock embarked on his more than 6,000km-long (3,728-mile) voyage from Mexico's city of La Paz - but soon became stranded after his vessel's electronics were cut off by bad weather.

It left the sailor and his dog drifting in the vast and hostile North Pacific ocean, surviving on what he could catch.

When they were finally found off Mexico's coast two months later, he was far leaner and sporting an overgrown beard.

"I have been through a very difficult ordeal at sea," he said in a video obtained by 9News.

"I'm just needing rest and good food because I have been alone at sea a long time. Otherwise I'm in very good health."

Unnecessary risk? The only person I know who sailed across the Eastern Pacific left from the Galapagos and I think stopped at the first place they could, which if I'm not mistaken is like 1000 miles East of Frenchy Polynesia.

Leaving from Cabo in an El Nino hurricane season a sailboat?

A skill best learned young. If you can whip a camper and 20’ trailer back down the ramp and park so the boat can be floated on any other driving is easy. I learned with a Ford pickup, 3 on the tree, full sized camper before I was in high school. You learn to use the side mirrors. Another lost art.
my uncle taught me...hand on the bottom of the wheel...move it to the direction you want the trailer to go

small motions

there's are very few more stressful things that loading and unloading a boat

I miss having a boat!

Solid trend lately of super rich famous athletes buying teams for various types of lesser know sports leagues. T

Rafael Nadal (tennis)
Sergio Perez (f1)
Didier Drogba (futbol)

All own Electric Boat racing teams.

And now Tom Brady owns E1 Electric Boat Racing Team too.

Formula E racing (car)

Moto E racing (motocycle)

The E boats do look really cool.

And apparently this woman designed the boats. Meet Sophi Horne.

Fun times is the hydroplane races on Mission Bay. When they come around full-bore 5 or 6 abreast for the start, well that's something else. Even better was the Thunderboat days when they had those huge Merlin engines in those things, you could hear them 10 miles away in Coronado.

RIP Bill Muncy.
Love the Thunderboats!
The family that I work for has a big party barge that is used as the media boat for the event. It can be a really long day but you can't get a better seat.

Central Oregon Coast last weekend. Surf was sh!t, but at stoked I wasn't this guy. Not sure what his story was, it blew about 30mph the day before when this thing got drydocked. Probably had motor issue or ran outta gas?PXL_20230715_170441720.jpg

must have been a wild ride

They hammered the corner of that house pretty good. Amazing all 8 people survived. But now they have a great story to tell.
