The chart itself is massively biased

A real chart would show all establishment media other than fox all the way on the left

Fox all the way on the right

There is no middle
People or organizations that claim to be "centrist" and above all the ideological dogma are the most annoying- and the most delusional.

On this forum I'll name the condition, Auto-Schtick.

Exactly

Media that claims to be free of bias is either lying or stupid

Mostly they are lying

They are also stupid because even though they lie, they are not even aware of the full extent of their slant

Fox claims fair and balanced and everyone laughs

CNN/ABC/CBS/NBC/NYTimes/WashPost, etc claim fair and balanced and everyone just takes their word for it

It is a rhetorical ploy

You guys know about reading multiple sources to get at the truth, right?

That is why you have a free press.

That is basic stuff you learn when you are studying historiography.

Trump saying the press is the enemy of the people is fvcking insane.

This should freak everyone out.

But whatever.

Happy Saturday!
Not sure why this is so hard to figure out
What grade did you make in your historiography class?
I got an A.

Because I know the key to getting As is to show your "A"ness.

Of course the graph is opinion. No idea who's opinion but it is opinion none the less.

CNN and MSNBC belong squished together. Same level of bias its just that CNN tries to do it with a little more class and with more articulate lefties.
You’re missing the point. Why not accept the graph as accurate? Why not accept that the makers of the graph are trying to help the consumers of news to get a better understanding of the news networks?
Its not accurate....so why would you or I accept it?

All of this.

Also, bias doesn't automatically equal fake news.

It's just the dummies gulping opinion as facts that's a problem.

Most of those news sources present facts, the only difference is that they come up with different conclusions depending on the bias.

It's up to the reader to figure it out, which in Grommy's case is too much to ask.

Press is way more essential to freedom and democracy than guns.

how is it inaccurate?

I don't think you're a suitable judge of such things.

a graph like this could actually help you if you had the intellectual
honesty and rigor to read up on issues from varying perspectives.

The real chart would have the vast majority left of center and a small handful right of center and virtually nothing in the middle
Of course you feel that way :roflmao: Except for the fact that they have placed many left-leaning media sources far to the left and lower on the chart in the opinion/analysis/fake news category, where the belong. As they do Infowars and other drivel on the other side of the sprectrum.

I do agree that some of the sources should be further away from the center, like NPR. Aside from their 6 minute hourly news blasts, they don't belong in the same grouping as the AP, Reuters, USA Today, etc. A lot NPRs content is opinion/analysis based and it seems that they selectively screen their guests and callers to represent their interests.

You have serious trouble seeing beyond your own partisan biases. Critical thinking must be hard for you :bawling:

Who has nothing better to do than to read multiple newspapers per day?

Reality is we are going through a period of massive change

It’s natural that people pick sides

News is run by people so they’re not immune

During the American Revolution there was no expectation of nor pretension to objectivity

Depends on how you define fake

Some dork presenting his opinions each day as if it is fact is fake to me

News is all about the prejudices of the presenter

Case in point, the Annapolis shooting is being presented over and over as if trump had something to do with it

There's only one definition of fake. :foreheadslap:

It means not factual.

A reporter talking about the Annapolis shooting in a skewed manner doesn't mean that the shooting didn't happen.

Is it bias? Yes.

Is it fake? No.

It's pretty easy, if you are not GromsDad.

This is actually an interesting and great point. I'm not going to try to weigh on over the other as far as importance to democracy to avoid a silly debate.

But many won't budge an inch when it comes to 2A but clearly don't have the same brazen passion for 1A.

Saying where you think sources should be on the graph reveals your bias

Do you guys even understand what bias is?

Knowing what it is helps you think better.

Albeit, we are always vulnerable to fallible systems.

(That is for Billy, because he always jumps to the conclusion that I think my cognitive system is infallible.)
