One wave sets and longboardable at best. At least got in the water. Think it’s been over two months since I surfed

Caught one wave yesterday, then got caught inside by a massive set that closed out the bay, buckled my board, and got washed to the beach. Today I surfed the same board in some playful chest-head high surf at a sheltered right hander. Less scary.

I live in the land of close outs. The spot I go to when it's all closed out yesterday was mostly closed out.

If that starts to happen I will have to drive an hour to get surf....

Yes you are. Sloughs at low tide will be off the charts! Maybe a head high set!!

Looks like late tomorrow or Sun early AM will be a better call down there.
Sunset sesh's paid off yesterday. Early AM today before tide filled was also the call, at least in NW exposed SD.

Swell is mostly 300 degrees, with a few hints of 295 to help sneak in a bit more in the NW exposures. Head-high to maybe 1 foot over max sets at those exposures was about the best to be had. Not terrible, and I don't think Surfline was all that off on heights, but some were hyping it like the first big swell of the season. It was good size north of Pt. Conception, but less than half the size down here in So Cal, as is typical of 300 degree swells. Be thankful it wasn't a 305 or higher. We would've seen zilch, zero, nada most everywhere.

Smaller today where I surfed yesterday and also out front. I just went spearfishing in my surf suit and it was crystal clear. My hands and feet are still thawing out.

XL Here, north wind and major brown water. Wind and water should improve for the next 12 days
