We went out to grab breakfast...you woulda thought it was the swell of the decade. Surfline doing what it does it does best.
My buddy was all hyped last night.
I was like, it's gonna be a clusterfuck sausage fest I there are any waves.
We need three weeks of back to back NW swells to calm every one down..

walled at my local (no surprise) but today was the international holiday known as dia de los randos cause there were a fvck ton of people out
teeny tiny window at sunrise b4 tide and wind made it funky. mostly closeouts, maybe 2 corners and one head high set. crowded as the first good south swell of a summer. i love surfing in LA!
Usual spot was taken up by some 5K event. Instead of parking far and walking (should have) I drove north. Some fun waves but an entire kookfest. Took a board to the top of the head when some kid flailed his board over the falls when he dropped in me and fell. Barked at him but overall, actually got a fair amount of waves given the inconsistency and a lot that were walled.
Waves were 2-3 Max and that's a generous three. Pretty playful too. Not that much push.

Swell is still filling in, for what it's worth. As suspected, head high sets, maybe a hair over at the most exposed NW spots in So Cal. Walled as all get out due to period/distance of storm. Reefs/points about the only worthy call, but those are few and far between in So Cal. Saw a decent 2 wave head-high set at one popular NC break, but most others a good 2 feet smaller.

i surfed a reef alone at 5am. got light at 5:45am. was barely breaking. hoards were out by 6am in groups of 3 and 4. and dont forget the SUP amper that discovered it last winter and now surfs it every morning. wasnt worth it even alone. swell aint really hittin here
