Not Historically

This is a recent development in the past couple hundred years, and not surprising from the serfs and peasants who stayed where they came from rather than striking off for a better life in the New World

add to the fact that massive amounts of real men were massacred in the two world wars and, well, you have the Europe you have today
So in other words, the West is pretty collective but only over the lifetime of America.

So prior to the last 200 years, the European serfs and peasants were rugged individualists who would not be told what to do?

That's some twisted logic you're working on there, sir.

Oh and the men who survived the war were not real? In the USA at least, a lot of the survivors went on to become our political leaders- JFK, HW, Bob Dole and Daniel Inouye (real bad ass) come to mind.

Man, talk about twisted logic and understanding

Europeans are descended from serfs and peasants. The ones who managed to leave the manor are the ones who ended up here.

The US was not nearly as effected by the Wars as Europe was

Both of these are reasons why our culture today is so different than Europe, but there was great evidence of this even 200 years ago
