GrossFat is out there telling people that the new turbines will be located close to shore.

He‘s lying as usual

Now you're either lying or horribly misinformed on the topic. The Atlantic Shores Project is well under way. Its first 90 windmills in phase 1 will be as close as 9 miles from the beaches of Atlantic City out to 20 miles off the beach and extend up to Barnegat Light. These windmills will be plainly visible from shore from Ocean City to Seaside Heights.

These are the areas Atlantic Shores will be filling with Windmills. This is their image by the way.

"Atlantic Shores Project 1 is the largest clean energy project in the State of New Jersey and the third largest awarded offshore wind project in the United States."

Awesome! It was my understanding that they were shut down.

what do you make of the recent whale death in VA? I’m sure someone so astutely concerned about marine life around our coastline is aware.

I can also only assume someone like @GromsDad is in favor of reduced vessel speeds along our coasts since it has been shown that will enable whales to be able to pass more freely instead of literally being blockaded like what was shown recently with a 1 year old North Atlantic right whale.

@hal9000 I just grabbed these graphics directly from the fedeal government impact statement for the Atlantic Shores phase 1.

This will be your view according to the Federal Government.....NOT ME for what your view will be when you surf the famous Wooden Jetty in Beach Haven or Holyoke ave..

This is what your federal government says the view will be from the Forsythe Wildlife Refuge at Hogate. Totally won't harm the birds and sealife that that refuge is supposed to protect......am I right?

This is what your federal government says the view will be if you were to surf the North end of Brigantine where the old Brigantine Castle used to be.

@hal9000 this is what your federal government says the view will be from the Ocean Casino Skygarden. You should remember this beach, its where my kid wiped the floor with your squad on his way to winning the men's title at the NE High School championships. :ROFLMAO:

This is what your federal government says the view will look like from the beach at Lucy the Elephant in Margate:

I have to correct one thing. I mistakenly thought Ocean City was the furthest South that the Atlantic Shores project would be visible from land. Nope!!!!! This is what the federal government says the view will be from the very southern tip of Sea Isle city.

stop being such a window-licker and read my post carefully. i said the NEW turbines will be located further offshore.

the current projects are located 10-20 miles offshore, but how many of those are active? and will a 1/8” blip on the horizon bother you that much?

do you cry when you see an oil tanker or cruise ship go by?

If those things were definitively proven NOT to be of any harm to marine mammals I would still be opposed.

:barf:

It is a known fact that wind turbine farms kill birds. Nobody really cares about gulls. But what about pelicans? I guess the good news is the bodies fall into the ocean and vanish. So, "What's a pelican?"

One of my big concerns being a resident of one of these sandbar islands is that placing this patch of immovable objects in the ocean this close to shore will create a channel effect as the water seeks the path of least resistance around the obstacle. This could cause serious beach erosion way worse than anything man made climate change ever could in our lifetimes. Somehow the climate kooks have no problem about this though.

How about when huge flocks of Northern Gannets gather in the exact area where these windmills are planned from late October until January. How many of them will die? One of my personal favorite critters.

IMHO, it is right to have concerns, but all of our energy options have a cost, both environmental and social.
The key here is to find the best longterm solution(s).
It seems disingenuous to me to only take issue with wind while being blind to the hazards of petroleum.
There's too many of us for NIMBY to work.

9 miles? How about 1 mile?

Are you now against drilling for oil too?

This is the view off the the coast of the most expensive real estate in the country, and has been for over 100 years.

How many whales did this kill do you think?
