Got a board- Bonzer - over at Studio 609 for over a month now....

Don't want to bother shaper - Malcolm - but would love just an update. My question is how frowned upon is shooting them - One - call/text/email on this?
Thanks

Oh, and Anyone with inside track at 609 please feel free to DM me here?

6 weeks is pretty standard. You could send him an email. If you have his cell text him. And then give him a couple of days to reply.

or go through established channels…

All the small glass shops and even most of the larger glass shops don't have a dedicated "customer service" person. That means in order to answer your request, someone is putting their tools down.
And not working on your or your buddy's board.
The people at glass shops are piece rate, meaning when they get back to you, they are not really getting paid.

It's fine to ask for the status of your board, just don't ask every day or even every week, and understand the above and be respectful.

What time frame were you given for board to be finished?

in any event an update shouldn't be frowned on....

It‘s really frustrating to get to the end of a day and realize much of your day was spent on the phone/computer, which in turn leaves you even further behind and making even less money. For some reason it seems like the needy synchronize and concentrate their efforts on the same day. That leaves you at work for a full day making no money. Happy joy.

If you must call at least be efficient and be conscious of the amount of time you are requiring.

Fired off a quick email to them from the contact page on site. Least invasive inquiry I could think of.

This board....It's a YOLO and a half to say the least.

so....how many weeks was the board to be finished in?
Never said.
Just spoke with Malcolm back in January and got things going. Month or so ago he said it was at 609.
Not frettin" or sweatin"... just stoked on the Gettin"

Will be hitting the Bonzer and YOLO thread when I do.

The OC
Bonzers, channel bottoms, and other boards with complex bottoms take longer as a rule of thumb. They are more challenging especially for sanding, and the often find their way to the bottom of the to do list because you can finish multiple boards in the time it takes to glass and sand one complex board, and the payoff is similar.

Did you get a tint or gloss and polish?

no call will speed it up
it will remain in line, in the same spot
Not true.
Many times the "problem board" with a minor issue will be set aside in the corner waiting for someone to fix it.
It's amazing how many times the board that's been at glass for 5 weeks is miraculously finished just days after an inquiry (kick in the ass).

Not always. I’ve called on boards that were misplaced in some corner and forgotten about. The glasser was like, “oh sh!t”, and put it to the front.
