My wife made one out of three large towels sown together lengthwise, sinched at the top with elastic, and one seam open about halfway up. I didn't get it when she told me about it before making it but it works great.
I see you, but trust me when i say, they're an easy yes when out camping on the beach at night or doing a surf check in the morning (where in winter the temp is OK to be in boardies and a hoodie outside, but the soft sand we have here lets your feet sink into a frozen tundra) ... and it becomes a slippery slope to wearing them at your desk (like i am right now

YOu beat me to this reply. I saw the Vans croc's a few days ago at the local surf shop. Might be a perfect trestles shoe?
My last set of slip on vans and bedroom slips stank so bad i had to throw them away! Smelly, dirty, sweaty foot stank from the long trestles hike! These you can just hose all and viola.
