I just can’t figure this one out. (BTW admins...where is my favorite emoji....so crazy dude...I miss him)

The farking thing is there. It takes up alot of space that could be used for housing other useless purchases to make me feel a part...of something.

Almond wood burns very nice.

It heats the whole house all night long.

Scrubbers? Residential chimney abatemnet devices...would that make me feel better?

I’d still stick my middle finger in the air.

I’m so sorry OZ! Seriously.

Here in the SF Bay area the air control board will pay you a fee to rat out somebody who is actually burning wood in their fireplace,

Socialism.

When the employment stops, the free meals dry up, and you get arrested for burning a log to keep warm.

As far as global warming, no problem there. The carbon from a tree you burn just goes into the next tree growing.

Want a little secret? Earth is a closed system. Every last molecule of carbon floating around in the atmosphere was at one time in history, floating around.

Earth can't get any warmer than it did at its historic warmest.

We apply carbon credits. What about the new Phillipino Volcano erupting??? 9000 foot plume. 1579247992635.png

We have an EPA wood stove. Small unit. Heats the whole house. Burns so hot that it actually burns the smoke for fuel too. When it’s going hot like it should there’s not even smoke from the chimney. I gathered lots of Hurricane wood this past summer. Heat logs on the stove top to dry it then toss it in. Carbon neutral. Mostly.

So exactly how does this factor into your global warming equation???
Sounds like you didn't understand my post. Climate change will truly fück up the world as we now know it.

At one point in time, there was no ice at the poles. The earth was much hotter. What I was saying is that the earth is a closed system. We aren't adding any more carbon. The earth radically cooled when all the carbon got buried and turned into coal and oil. Lots of carbon got removed from the atmosphere.

As far as your volcano. Introducing ash and steam into the atmosphere will cool the earth. The dinosaurs died off when a meteor hit the earth, and turned a big chunk of Yucitan into ash and steam

By the way, carbon credits is the biggest pile of bullshit ever. One guy has a new efficient factory. So he takes money from a guy with a dirty factory so the dirty factory can run dirty?.

Al Gore didn't invent the internet, but he did invent carbon offsets.

Why, you ask?

Because Al is carbon offsets broker. Fücker got rich on taking a percentage of the cash trading hands.

Back to the original question, you aren't an asshole for burning your fireplace, global warming wise. You are an asshole for making smog. You are an asshole if you burn natural gas in your fireplace, global warming wise.

Go have a fire in your fireplace. Just don't do what my hermit neighbors down the block do and burn all their trash through their fireplace. FD comes by their place to chew them out at least once a month.
