Champions were crowned!that sucked major balls.
The entire comp only had a glimpse of good surf here and there.Champions were crowned!
Unfortunately both finals were plagued with dogshit conditions.
December always better than Feb, no?Champions were crowned!

Sure, there were like 10-15 decent waves throughout the 28 hours of competition. A wave at pipe lasts what, 7 seconds? Amazing.Still better than Lemoore.
Like any surf session, you get good ones and bad ones.Sure, there were like 10-15 decent waves throughout the 28 hours of competition. A wave at pipe lasts what, 7 seconds? Amazing.
If memory serves, in 1988 the Pipeline Masters had such poor conditions that the final was held at Ehukai Beach. Robbie Page won that year.John got hosed, again. JR gets the push in any close heat. Lucky he's on the ASL.
Stoked Carissa won.
Was this the worst Pipeline Contest for the pros, ever? Can't recall it ever being this bad. .
I will be.Thanks for these contest threads @sponge.
Will you be starting the Sunset thread soon?
Curious as to what people think about the forecast.
The Gums Masters in the 80's. Pagey won and many decried how pathetic it was. So be it. There will always be years unlike others; it's about figuring out how to maintain despite it all.John got hosed, again. JR gets the push in any close heat. Lucky he's on the ASL.

Here's an early round shot from the 2007 Pipeline Masters (12/13/07). Might even be Bede. Pretty sure the last day was much worse.Bede won the 2007 Pipe contest at 2-3ft Off The Walls and the Triple Crown. I was skating that day and walked across the street to watch. Conditions were nice but the surf was barely head high.
When I walked back to Nancy’s the Florence boys were skating the 6’ft mini. John looked over the railing, saw me walking up and asked who won. I told him Bede and he clinched the Triple Crown too. John’s reply BEDE!!!? Haha.
Bede ripped beating Parko, Dingo and Pancho. No barrels the 3 heats I watched.
