Might be the bandwidth of the camera feed.

yup they lost sponsorship from Quik. heard various stories about what happened. Don’t know how they couldn’t just call Bong or Volcom or Rip Curl the next day and make a deal. No major sponsor. Prize purse also way down ($39k total with $10k to first place). Kinda sad to see cause the event is so amazing.

Also there’s 85K people watching on YouTube. More than any CT event.

A guy I surf with made the logo for the event for Quik. He said they used to make BANK on Eddie merch over the decades. Do full capsules each year. Got paid $350 As independent contractor.

heard that the merch sales were part of negotiations going wrong between Quik and Aikaus.

I'd like to think the entire broadcast is hanging by a thread due to this set up.

This needs to be made into the 2023 Eddie contest shirt. "Eddie Would Prop Up".
