When he isn't saying gay and has some time off from fighting Disney over what children should see in movies, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis celebrates Victims of Communism Day, a new holiday he just made up. Seeking to remind people that oppression is not just a Florida thing, maybe?

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) signed a new law on Monday that requires students to learn about communism, establishing a state holiday called "Victims of Communism Day."
HB 395 will require special instruction on "Victims of Communism Day," recognized on Nov. 7 of each year.
"Today, I established November 7th as Victims of Communism Day to honor those who have suffered under communism and remind people of the destruction communism has caused worldwide, including a death toll exceeding 100 million," DeSantis wrote in a tweet on Monday. "In Florida, we will tell the truth about communism."

The bill establishing the day also appears to include provisions to teach Floridian children about the horrors of communism. It seems everything in Florida politics now includes something about what you can not teach a child, or insists that they be indoctrinated into a cult.

Florida Lt. Gov. Jeannette Núñez (R) said at the news conference that the bill was in line with efforts to remove critical race theory teachings and other "woke terms" in the classroom. Critical race theory is an academic framework used at the graduate level that analyzes U.S. history and institutions through the lens of racism.
"Throughout this country, we are seeing communism and socialism being romanticized," she said at a press conference. "Positive attitudes are at an all time high in this country. But not here in Florida, because freedom, not Marxism, has a home here in the free state of Florida."
Núñez added the legislation would "not only teach our children but their children's children, the importance of freedom, the terrible tyranny of communism, making sure that November 7, they will all understand what has happened throughout this globe throughout history."

So a gay teen over in Osprey (lower Gulf) who has been class President his entire time (and sued the state over the LGBTQ law) was called into the Principal's office and warned that if he used a graduation speech to say anything about LGBTQ, he was going to get unplugged, Gump-mode.

(Personal experience testimonial: my high school's valedictorian speech was completely political, about how the schools/county player hated 'dual enrollment' where kids take classes at Community College and get credit for High School and College)


The Florida Legislature abdicated drawing the 2022 map after the 2020 census, let DeSantis draw it, and a Judge DeSantis appointed tossed it.

DeSantis basically took the district that packed the black people in Tallahassee and Jacksonville and split it up, and drew them into white-majority districts.

I am guessing that with no rat-fckng, North Florida would actually have two (D) districts, one in Jacksonville, and one in Tallahassee.

He lives 2 streets north of us in Marineland acres
His street has Huuuge sign saying PRIVATE ROAD !!
And always skips over it when talking about this area :)

He is helping others and helping his realtor business! He even let slip there are some growth issues!
All are welcome to use the private road - on their way to/from the open house event he is hosting.

I think that area has quite a lot going for it. Hopefully we can add a stress-free 2022 hurricane season and another 5-6 months of mild temperature to that list come November

GG that's me being a cynic/smartass, not something he actually said!

He might not have any listings in Marine land acres?

Honestly this guy doesn't seem all that bad. You should troll the South FL news for condos failing inspection, then try call a realtor with listings in that building? Experience a hard sell attempt on a unit in a building that's about to domino. Maybe help a developer bribe the city council, then have no impact fees for increased road/water usage assessed on the developer?
