The ceramic tint does stop heat when you're sitting in the car and driving. If you park your car and leave it in the beach parking lot, it's going to get hot no matter how tinted the windows are.

I've got all my windshields "ceramic clear tinted" now. I really notice the difference when driving home late in the day to the West Side with sun pouring through the windshield into my lap, much less heat. If I tell you to look for it maybe you can tell there's a tint but if you don't know it's there you'd say the windshield is clear.
On a hot sunny day with the sun in the front of the car a Chrysler minivan windshield is so big as to be a greenhouse. When the sun is in front of the car the amount of air blowing directly on me to offset that solar gain at the windshield can get annoying so I'll make the AC put some or all air on the windshield through the defrost vents which puts the cooling where the heat is coming from. As the sun moves behind the car I put it back to the normal vents.
