7-10 days in ZA & Indo. Slave labor works OT, can't say the same bout the lazier first world board builders. Saw one of the glass shops in Durban and it looked like those fellas never stepped foot in the ocean

I am the black hole of cutting. Everything that gets close is sucked through my rollup doors. 
100 boards a month. Let’s round that up to say 40 bIckes a board. So $4,000 a month? Minus rent, the loan on the machine, keeping the lights on, insurance, etc. etc etc.
You need more like 20 a day. And that’s a sh!t load of hard, nasty dirty work.

If I’m left alone, (no visits, no phone calls, no blank delivery) and assuming shortboards with good files and appropriate blanks I can get pretty close to four an hour. With my son loading/unloading I’ve done 40 in a long day. By yourself, and dealing with all the extemporaneous BS, 20 is a productive day. Past 20 I lose about 10 IQ points. It starts to get dangerous. You can fuckup and make your blade explode into shrapnel that will literally go through walls. Take your machine out. Take your life. It ain’t brain surgery but if you tell the machine to do something stupid, it will.20 x 40.00 = 800.00 a day !
Those 3 machines I spoke of probably do 60 - 70 per week combined and advertise being a cutting service
2 - 3 DM and 1 APS 3000
100 + per month would be just the begining for a new machine due to this bottle neck

Have ordered several customs from Barry - quickest turnaround i can remember was about 3 weeks .... considering all hand shaped - no complaints. Always - a great experience.
I agree. Prices do go up with length, fat stringers, multiple stringers, no stringers, etc. All the way to 200+ for a balsa blank. Which is still way too cheap.

Once, about 10-15 years ago, I ordered a board from Channel Islands. I got a call 6 days later that my board was ready to pick up. We couldn't figure it out. I guess it got put on the Kelly pile? That was memorable.
