I was looking for a Black Beauty for months on every message board- I finally bucked up and pulled one from inventory (6'9")- get one new braddah- they are soooooo worth it.

6'9-7'0 I saw a guy riding one on sat in 1-3' crappy beachbreak. Its a freaking pintail made for good point surf. Just b/c Curren rode one (back in the 80's) doesn't make it a great board.

mainly ride a 6'3" Stamps Fish and a 6'8" Big guy tri...

You'd definately be using it in the right waves. The black beauty has thicker rails and should float/paddle you well. You don't have to get a Merrick to get a good board, though. Check out craigslist.com in your area or even ebay and see if you can find something similar for a good price. I've seen pin tails in that size range for pretty cheap in good shape, too.
