The same people who complain about money in politics vote for Republicans who support Citizens United, the cognitive dissonance can not be any more absurd.Sharkbiscuit said:ifallalot, buddy, pal, friend, guy, ifallalot said:I agreesizzld1 said:Citizens United will go down as one of the most harmful Supreme Court decisions in the history of this nation. It's not Korematsu, but it will do more damage to our democracy than any other single case.
Hence my other comments
Who was the person Citizens United went after and made this a thing?
Was there any difference between the Supreme Court Justices she would have nominated compared to, say, Neil Gorsuch?
Hating on the "corrupt" government while simultaneously voting-in the corrupt imbeciles who can't govern, has been the standard winger modus operandi.mundus said:The same people who complain about money in politics vote for Republicans who support Citizens United, the cognitive dissonance can not be any more absurd.Sharkbiscuit said:ifallalot, buddy, pal, friend, guy, ifallalot said:I agreesizzld1 said:Citizens United will go down as one of the most harmful Supreme Court decisions in the history of this nation. They are talking about taking people's guns without due process. If someone is such a bad guy that they belong on a no fly list or they need their guns taken away, what the fook are they doing walking the streets? How about rental cars? should they be able to rent one? What if they have a pressure cooker or if they make a trip to the hardware store? If somebody is that evil shouldn't we just lock them up?

People give you answers and you run away from the discussion with your tail between your legs.
Then you come back the next day with exact same arguments.
Tedious.

Even if the premise was valid he's following it up with a non sequitur.
And quite literally, the case law on gun restrictions, and restrictions on ANY right guaranteed under the Constitution, discusses a balancing of need for the restrictions versus the need to protect the right. Even Scalia said that the 2nd Amendment has limits:BillyOcean said:It’s not at a whimGromsDad said:If you don't see the issues here with government taking away your rights at a whim without due process I don't know how to help you. And for years I was the only one to say it.
The vast majority of felons walking the streets are not legally able to possess a firearm. They are legally able to walk the streets and legally able to rent cars.GromsDad said:Serious question.
