I don't know how old the other posters here like hal are. Were they alive and aware during Michael's career? I would say the Michael Jordan is in a realm of sports shared by only one other athlete in history and that other athlete is Mohammed Ali.

Babe Ruth, Tiger Woods, Jack, Magic, Lebron, Slater, Phelps, Brady, Pele, Wilt, Montan, Bird and Gretski were all great athletes but Jordan and Ali stand well above the rest.

Jordan was pretty incredible but I think you’re overstating it

I really do think a big part of his early dominance was pushing the boundaries of the rules of basketball

If Lebron was around during the same era and did the same thing, hard to say that he wouldn’t have been better

Part of my assessment is the way that MJ transcended the game and elevated the game to new heights both on and off the court. Today's NBA players owe more than they could ever repay to MJ in much the same way that PGA players owe so much of their wealth to the way Tiger Woods boosted professional golf from obscurity to huge purses. Lebron isn't even in the same realm.
