how exactly do you time the surf when its big, and you really dont feel like getting caught inside on your way out? i usually sit and watch for 10-15 minutes or so, and figure out exactly when to start paddling, so i make it out as quickly and easily as possible (this is important when the water is below 40* in the northeast).
also, theres an advantage to have a thicker board for better paddling power, but its also a disadvantage when you have to duckdive deep. which would be more important? thanks.
this is not fun when the water is in the 30's and the air is well below freezing (and this isnt even close to how big it can get in the winter)--localswell.com
[This message has been edited by noreastsurf (edited 12-15-2002).]
