Watched one last October that was oddly un-hyped compared to this one.

Is it because this one is hitting the east coast? So much “news” coverage this time around.

its because this one is a total eclipse

total as in you can look at it with the naked eye (if you're in the path of totality) and see something like the picture below

last one was annular - so no lookie-lookie with naked eyeball

a TRULY amazing thing to behold

After experiencing the 2017 eclipse in Oregon I said 'that was cool, when and where is the next one?'...Turns out it would be today and centered right over some old friends' house here in Comfort, Tx. Started making plans then to come here thinking 'Texas would certainly be the best place for good weather, right??'. Well, no, cloudy, but I did get a couple shots. And it got really dark for a few minutes. Cool nonetheless, don't know if I'll make the next one.
