Its funny - i moved back to OC during the pandemic (Newport). I grew up there down in Laguna and after being in LA for 20 years I thought it was Shangri-LA in comparison.Id visit for the weekend once every couple months over the last couple decades and be like - wow its perfect down here. Actually living there again was a whole nother thing & the charm wore off after about a month. Being 2 blocks from a decent wave was the only thing that kept me there. Here comes the shade.
LA is all about the little "pockets." And I like museums. And there are the mountains right behind. Traffic is bad but it's bad everywhere. There's no traffic in OC or SD or SB? If I don't have to be somewhere at a scheduled time, driving is like a game done to music. I've learned to ignore the assholes and maniacs...kind of.Its funny - i moved back to OC during the pandemic (Newport). LA is all about a finding your hood and having a little bit of patience, although I will say Traffic has gotten absolutely bonkers lately and if I had to commute again Id probably be just as pissed at LA as Havoc.
This video was Thursday while I was getting endoscoped. Funny story about that. When they read my meds list and saw that I have a myocardial bridge, they had no idea what it was. The anesthesiologist left and I assume he went and did a quick search. He came back and said, "Because of your condition we are going to give you as little anesthetic as possible. You might wake up during the procedure, but if I see that, I'll give you more." I was like, "WHAT? No! Don't let me wake up during the procedure. Are you fukkin kidding me???"
This is down the street from me-
Ha, I've lived in LA for 20 years and every time I've gone down to OC recently to surf on the weekend, it seems like Shangri-la in comparison. I try and work on my wife about moving south, but her folks are here and help with the baby. LA has always been a mixed bag, but it's really seemed to have gotten worse in a lot of ways since the pandemic and the people in charge are corrupt morons. Its funny - i moved back to OC during the pandemic (Newport). I think the difference is surface street traffic. cant really speak for SD/SB but normal streets in OC are 3-4 lanes with a dedicated right and left turn lane.. Here we're basically one lane in rush hour. IF i choose to go in the office its 2.3 miles from my home - 10 minutes to get in at 9:30am - 40 minutes to get home at 6pm. Drives me insane just cuz i know its so close.]There's no traffic in OC or SD or SB?
Its a mirage buddy! on the real tho - if i had a kid id probably suck it up and move down there to Laguna Niguel or Dana Point. Newps sucks - HB is lame. The further south you go the dreamier it is.Ha, I've lived in LA for 20 years and every time I've gone down to OC recently to surf on the weekend, it seems like Shangri-la in comparison. This. It never ceases to amaze me that everyone between Newps and Sonoma County doesn't up and leave. In my opinion, Nashville, Austin, and Atlanta are played out. The new hotness is Indianapolis, Little Rock, and Miami. Oh and East St. Louis. Definitely. I would leave ASAP if I were those people. After I laid my quiver out on the front lawn - won't be needing it in Arky. Its a mirage buddy! on the real tho - if i had a kid id probably suck it up and move down there to Laguna Niguel or Dana Point. Lebanon, Ohio is the place you want to be. Best kept secret out there. Oops.This. It never ceases to amaze me that everyone between Newps and Sonoma County doesn't up and leave. Go East young man!
True for most major cities...takes a little while to find your spot, but I enjoy the urban energy/culture (am in DC)LA is all about the little "pockets." And I like museums. I like SF too. My dad's from there and his family is still there. But, for me, it's too cold. NYC is a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. OC...is vast and mysterious. Too vast and too mysterious for me.
