Not so much a genius in the traditional sense but more of a genius grifter/system player. That's why all the others in the grifter class hate him so much and love seeing him hit speed bumps.
Tesla was just a grift to fund Space X, Starlink, solar, Powerwall, etc.... It was evident that the EV market would catch up and eventually become saturated. He's on to bigger things.
