I lived three years in Sierra Leone right next door. There is not much swell in that area. The Atlantic Ocean there, at the equator, between Africa and Brazil is known as the “doldrums.” There are no real local storms. The ones they have are very short lived- “squalls.” It’s not exposed very well to the North Atlantic and is very far from the Southern Ocean. I would not make it a surf destination unless surf is a secondary activity you might do if it presents itself, and you won’t feel disappointed if you get skunked.

Take your anti malarials religiously while there. Ask me why I know.

Looks like soft left points and heaps of disease.

anf fuck those hyaenas.
The hyena photo is most likely not in Liberia - Liberia is warm and wet, not a desert climate at all.

The series of left points get bigger as you move around the headland, the end section near town can get quite hollow.

Cotton Trees can be hollow as well, depending on the sand flow -

you mean Robertsport?

I could see why you would want to go seeing those waves, Very rippable. I like how they show local surfers and not visiting pros. But because of the swell scarsity in that area my above advice still holds- go there for other reasons- to see your friend, soak in the local culture, take a trek up country....oh and be prepared for the beggars. You are like Bill Gates to them.

The guy tamed a hyena FFS :drowning:
Me: hey bro.. what up?

Him: You white boy shut up.. this is my place.. my rules. You follow them or you die.. you die anyway whether you follow them or not but right now I let you live.

Me: Mommyyyyyy!!!

But seriously.... that is one fine looking Hyena. Wonder why it has that muzzle on though. Seems like a nice dog like animal.

Angola and Gabon look much more exposed to swell.
Quite a few good left points in both Angola and Gabon -

Angola is Portuguese language, Gabon c'est tres Français -

Liberia is English-speaking, being a former colony of the United States, intended as a country for freed slaves to "Return to Africa".
