Hi there! I'm new to this forum. Usually I spend my time on the longboard skateboard forums. But I have taken a notion, at the wise age of 49 , to learn to surf. I have time this summer and want warm waters for the initiation so I am thinking of sending myself to surf camp at Sunset Suzy's on Oahu.
Anyone had any experience with this surf camp?

I'd be open to suggestions for other warm water surf camps that don't take me half way around the world (I'm from Vancouver).

thanks loads

Good on ya for givin it a go...
Almost any camp is safe and instruction pretty basic, so you can't really go wrong.
Just work on getting up quickly from lying prone on your tummy, and do some swimming for prep.
Once back home, your waters are about the same as SanFrancisco area, so it's not too bad (over 1,000 surfers living in SF city limits). A 5/3 wetsuit, booties, and a hood keeps you almost as warm as Waikiki!
