suggestions on a tahiti vacation?

my girlfriend and i are thinking about going to tahiti for spring break... it's going to be between feb 19 - 26th or 27th... was wondering if any of you had been there and if you had any suggestions...

as far as surfing goes i'm not looking to charge any huge reefs but if we could get some friendly waves in that would be a sweet bonus... thanks for any help in advance

The updated digital SURFER Travel Report for Tahiti will be live in early Feb. I wrote most of it myself from my month trip there. It has tips, transportation options, accomodations, surfspots, etc.

There are a few super fun beachbreaks on the main island and fun reefs on the other islands that you can get between swells that are not too heavy. Swell can come in fast during a session, so be aware.

First off - congrats to you and your lady. I wish I had the cash to go to Tahiti for Spring Break when I was in college! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/cussing.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

The north side of the main island has some spots. I've been to Tahiti before and those open ocean swells are really FAST in some places. And that reef is SHARP. Not for the inexperienced in my book. Check out this surf map of Tahiti. I don't have any suggestions on where to stay as the place I stayed at was on the *south* side of the island and that would be on the wrong side of the island for the time of year you are going.
