A solar border wall can't happen because of the greenies. It would be alleged to inflict heavy damage on a fragile ecosystem that spans both sides of the border.

Not to mention the likelihood of vandalism.

I think vandalism/management costs are the bigger problems. The greenies are going to complain about environmental harm no matter the wall looks like - assuming the plan call for an actual wall-like barrier. ---- Although I'm sure some whiny bastard will complain about the reflection the solar materials cause or something dumb like that.

Several of the large scale solar operations have been prohibited by the feds from operating at capacity because of their bycatch. They're reportedly attracting then roasting birds in mid-flight. Supposedly about the only critters who aren't adversely affected by the big solar farms are the reptiles and tortoises.

I don't know much about the success/failure rates in his line of business, but as a point of comparison the entire venture capital/angel investing sector would be doing naked backflips down Sand Hill Road if their failure rate was 60%.

'Cause that's not my brand of virtue signaling. That doesn't stop me from choosing to engage in what many people here might consider a minimalist lifestyle, minimal excess consumerism, using and maintaining cars until the end of their economic lifespan instead of buying new cars, spending a little extra and going to extra effort to build surfboards to last instead of detonating in 6 months, etc.

From a hunting perspective the proposed wall is a concern. I forget what exact species, but quite a few game species travel over the boarders. It was actually an interesting discussion on a Steve Rinella podcast with a biologist and a few others who know quite a bit on those subjects.

Building a wall all along the us/mexico border would be an amazing feat. It would be pointless, wasteful, and counterproductive, but it would be a feat.

What would be really cool would be to build a couple hundred surfing reefs between Ponto and Trestles. Make some giant fans to blow offshore. Solar powered. Yewww!

I'll bet you anything that the Trump enterprises have begun investing in solar futures.
