LeeD, I'll take that as a pass on the $100.

I have been thinking that it may be possible to improve the board I am describing (which is basically pictured by TFAD above) by contemplating a reduction of the swallow tail, or perhaps a slightly narrower tail for more bite in turns. The trouble is I suspect that the generous width in the tail (and throughout the board) is a key feature in the board's glide and speed in small, gutless waves.

I asked M. Campbell to make a bonzerfied version of this board ala 5'8", 21", 2.75" - we'll see what happens when it comes on down (fingers crossed).

Witness Morey's Camel.
If you want a true board made expressly for slow moving, mushy waves, you'd make it THICK tailed, thin nosed, widepoint back, hard railed...NOT round or egg, flat rockered, sharp release, squared deck railed, FLAT decked.
That's for vert surfing in knee to waist, possibly good to chest high waves.
If you want to noseride and trim forwards, then a wider, thicker nose also.

Big tails, shrink the tail block, pull it in, more curve...trying to balance the speed vs. looseness (is that a word?), slight V from flat bottom, lose the swallow and keep the foam, why do you need double pintails w/ a canted fin and trailer?
6'x17"x22.75x17.25"x2 5/8"... 210 pounds, everything here is a left, it has to go backside every time....

well see things are different here. i was just in ca, and in summer you guys had just as good or better waves than some of our winters. ...so a longboard is a must when living here. sure u can deny it andact hardcore, or u can make one, learn how to crossstep and surf everyday....or almost everyday.

last year i was out at a spot thats all coquina in st augustine, and the waves were liek 2 feet, the winds started hitting the faces, the swell started pumping, and soon enough i was out o a 10 foot longboard in overhead conditions. only my second time on a beast of a board. lets just say i now dotn surf over coquina on my lb.

as for mush killas...
almost everyboard i own is for that. most of them having a hip or wing in the tail, many of them swallow tails, most of them haing full noses, smaller fins, a little more clustered and pushed up than your average shorty, most boards i own are atleast 19 in width. thickness is still about 2 1/8-2 1/4. i feel on a small wave mush board you want it to be as short and as loose as possible. if your gonna be throwin airs you could make yours light, but i like some weight in mine over mushy late drops and such.
