Hijack:
Would you buy a board from a shaper who can't surf? When you talk about what you want out of a board (holding in during a big turn, e.g.), does it matter to you if he's never felt that sensation you're trying to convey?

For me, I'd buy a specialty board from someone who has invented something unique, but if I'm buying multiple boards and trying to develop a relationship with a shaper, I wouldn't want to have conversations about something that the shaper has never experienced first hand.

Maybe it is subconscious but every board in my quiver comes from a shaperthat 's surf well

and he was in the top 44/wct not that long ago.
best example of a great surfer who shapes great i can think of

I have found, as a rule, great surfers who shape tend to make great surfboards. I think there is something to be said for feedback under your own two feet.

Tokoro is the best shaper surfer I've seen. His small wave game is exceptional.

I've never seen Budroe surfing but heard from many people he's very good.

I lived near Gally for two years and rarely saw him out in the lineup. He was always fishing with his son or hanging out with his family. Nothing wrong with that!

AB RIPPED . RIP !!! From pipe to Padang and back again . Having major bi pass surgery didn't keep him away from big Padang / G LAND AND OUTSIDE CORNER .
