i personally dont like putting my boards in the sun so heres what i do:
1. scrape it off with a wax comb
2. clean the excess wax off with my pickle (not that pickle, the one you buy at your local surf shop)
3. if i really wanna make it squeaky clean i use some sticky bumps wax remover
if your wax is really old and hard, you can use a scraper (the one with a razor blade) you just have to be really careful with it, but it comes off very easily.

Ya, I don't like setting it in the sun either, and metal is not an option so heres what I do.
1) Drive back wheel of car (rear wheel drive) onto the tail.
2) Make sure the board is not going to shift around.
3) Floor it, the rubber tires will take the wax right off without scratching the board. Kinda leaves a little buff job too.

This works great and is quick and board friendly. Put the board in the shower, crank up the hot water on the wax for 5 min or so. Turn h2o off, scrape the wax off with an old credit card, reapply hot h2o as needed to soften wax. Use some wax remover after you finish and the board looks brand new. Also put an old towel under the board for the wax scrapings to fall on so they dont leave a film on the bathtub.

The blow dryer if left in contact for too long wil damage the glass I believe. STill hold firm in the car method.

I used this technique for about 15 years in the same tub and the drain never clogged. The wax doesnt liquify, it just gets soft like butter and is easier to remove. Hair driers take way longer than this does.
[This message has been edited by Darryl (edited 12-15-2002).]
