Any tips?

I'm recycling my lucky red-x modified traction pad and putting on my semigun. I want it to stick! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

I've got a can of Super-77 spray adhesive, what now?

Hopefully, surfing
www.gdd.net
spray it into a plastic bag and inhale deeply.
OR you could coat both the board surface (maybe outline the area you want covered w/ a pencil first) and the back of the pad. Stick it on and apply as muc hpressure as you can without killin' the board. Try to keep it even and pay close attention to the edges, they'll peel first if it's gonna happen.

decisions, decisions <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/roflmao.gif" alt="" />

OK, thats pretty much my plan so far. I think I'll also mask off around where the pad is going to go so I don't get adhesive all over the rails.

Most tail pads are made with a 3-M based adhesive. So, if you clean everything with denatured alcohol really well and apply the Super 77 to each thoroughly cleaned surfaces. You should have a good bond. One of the biggest problems with tail pads is not getting all the sanding dust or residual wax off the surfaces.

Will acetone work?

Pickles-

I've done this before, trust me:

1) clean deck of board well
2) spray underside of pad
3) put pad on board
4) pull pad off board- this will leave some sticky where it should be
5) wait a few minutes, let glue on both pad and board get tacky, THEN re-stick the board.

If you just slap it on, the glue will stay gooey for a long time, the pad will slide out of position, and the glue will get squeezed out to the edges. If you do it this way, it will be on there solid and the glue will remain evenly distributed throughout the area between pad and board.

I was in Channel Islands (SB) the other day and bought one of those Famous Pads... The sickest pad I've ever seen!!!! The thing works insane!

Between 4 and 5, BLOW on the glue until it gets a dull sheen, then wait the 5 minutes.
You don't have to suck in the fumes, but it helps if you have too many brain cells imploding your cranium.

Would work, but then you will be left with sticky goo on the deck of the board around the traction pad. The way I described above will "stamp" the glue in the correct shape so you don't have too much of a mess to razor/solvent off later.

Well, that was easier than putting it on with the factory adhesive ... gives you some more wiggle room. I really wish these were one piece instead of 5.

And those fumes are funky fresh <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/socrazy.gif" alt="" />

I can't resist. Heres some photos, this board is even sexier with X6s and a pad <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/facelick.gif" alt="" />
