Ok, I am, like others on this forum right now, in the process of getting ready to order a board. Ok, by "getting ready" I really mean I'm waiting for my tax refund to arrive, but there is still a decision to be made.
Here is my question:
I live on the gulf coast, so I mostly ride small, mushy waves, with about one session out of 8 or 10 having waves with some real shape. I know some people who ride trifin eggs around here, and they seem to have pretty good luck with them.
How would a bonzer egg perform in these same conditions? Would that bonzer "fifth gear" come into play, or is that only when the waves have some decent power? Also, with the red-x system would I be able to switch between bonzer and thruster set-ups for varying surf conditions?
Or should I get a thruster with channels? Or just a straight thruster?
Or maybe I should get a spoon... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" />
Oh, and yes I did read the bonzer history on the Campbel bros site, so I know that they used to put bonzer setups on funboard/egg-type shapes. But I didn't find anything there on what kind of wave conditions they were suited for.
Our waves here in the gulf, most of the time anyway, have a pretty unique character.
