I couldn't take the chiding, so back up I went the same way I had come down. Man, that trial is gnarly, with a capital G. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="images/icons/tongue.gif" />

But it made the session all the more fun, and it is a beautiful, easy hike that taxes the body far less than the ordinary trudge up the hill. But as Bank Wright might say, "one slip... and it's curtains."</strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Good for you nameless. I get ribbing from my friends when we descend slopes like that but **** them, better safe than sorry. Imagine if you slipped and then your bro woulda had to haul your ass out of there.

Of course, he probably woulda gone surfing first.

Nameless mis-spelled "trail"? Twice? ... and he spelled it "trial". <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="images/icons/tongue.gif" /> Unpossible irony.

nameless i was in a bar tonight, uh, seeking inspiration, and i thought of ye.

i was wondering what you do in your pubs. are you more likely to engage in conversation, or play pool, or sit sullenly in thought (like me) and take notes? this ain't a test, i'm just curious.

I'm a road man myself, mostly because I prefer South Peak to her other options; also, because reaching the top of the shortcut [which I consider sacreligious to pass up, conditions be damned] and getting my first glimpse of the conditions through that little crotch of valley as the wind suddenly kicks me in the face has an aesthetic to it that I find to be wholly part of my Blacks experience. Plus, after running down that puppy barefoot so many times, neither the sharp gravel nor the broken glass menace my feet.

Speaking of conditions be damned, I scrambled up the shortcut a couple weeks ago during the last day of that large rainstorm we had. It was loads of fun. And mud.

It is an exotic rock-climbing experience. It also happens to be a lot shorter and less strenuous than the other two routes, but the distinct possibility of coming to harm is ever-present while you make your trek.

You decide." <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" /> </strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I'm gonna do it. My buddy told me about when he and another friend were going down hochi and the friend slipped at the end, right at the drop off, and slid right off the drop off 8-9 feet to the bottom, landing on his arse. He was not hurt. That last part looks the most critical. But I'm gonna do it. I'll wear some grippy hiking boots.
