Used only once... I'm a jackass. Anyway, it's a (practically) brand new Patagonia full suit 3/3, size Medium. Quilted wool interior throughout, limestone Yamamoto rubber, 100% super-stretch. Back zip, with one of those water blocker dealio things with a neck gasket (the black over-the-neck thing in the picture). This suit is $475+ tax when new (so $510), and only sold at the Patagonia store in Cardiff and on top of that there's a 2 month waiting list even if you wanted a new one. I'm selling it for $400.

So, why am I selling it after only using it once? Because I'm a jackass, that's why. I like to experiment with equipment. I'm a front zip wetsuit guy, but I had the opportunity to get one of these and dove at it. What did I find? They work really well, are super warm in 3/3 (as warm or maybe warmer than my 4/3),... but they have a back zipper & neck velcro. I didn't used to like those, and apparently I still don't. Shyt! I'm a jackass.

Anyway, I hope someone here wants it as I'd like to see it get a good home. It does work, is super warm, and would be good for someone who wants a WARM suit that is flexible.

PM me with interest. Hopefully it sells soon.

Exterior Front & Back:

Interior - Quilted wool everywhere except the arm pits:

{Edit: Oh yeah. Here's some other dude's review of it. Not me, obviously. CLICK HERE. }

grg: Think Hotline wetsuits. Sadly, I got rid of my Beavertail Bodyglove, with the overlock stitching, some years ago. Oh how I pine for the glory days of nut busting, bloody rash inducing, body constricting, yet somehow not really keeping you that much warmer, wetsuits.

friscodisco: I'm 5'10" x 160#, medium build. Patagonia's sizing is equivalent to the sizing used by most of the major brands. For example, I've worn a size Medium in RipCurl, O'Neill, Body Glove, Victory,... etcetera.

Nope. Sorry, Drad, but if I don't sell it for $400 I probably just won't sell it. [Great back-up suit if the need is there.] I believe it's worth more than $400, but I figure that's a great deal on the erBB.

Again, I only used it once, but...

I expected the wool to be itchy, although I was told it wouldn't be. I was told correctly; it wasn't at all itchy! It definitely felt different against the skin than thermofiber & all that other stuff. It wasn't a bad feeling at all, just a different feeling. It didn't itch, and it didn't get stinky. Those are two of Patagonia's big selling points, which is why I gave the link on the first post.

BTW: I didn't urinate in the suit during my one session. Not that there would be anything wrong with that; I just think people will feel better knowing it's a not a pre-peed suit.

how about seam leakage? noticeable?
pretty sure someone posted on the bb about having one and/or trying one out and the suit leaked water more than top brands

Again, I used it only once...

No seam leakage that I could tell. I was surfing near B5F's house, 2+ hours, wind, and I was sweating. In the interests of full disclosure, I did have booties on. But I was seriously warm. As I said, at least as warm if not warmer than my 4/3.

The only issue I had was the back zip w/ neck flap. I'm just not into that. All in all, it seems (perhaps 'seams') like a pretty solid suit. The warranty is for 2 years, and I've got the receipts to maintain that warranty, in case that's at all a concern. That would include seams, of course.

was the session back in early Jan07? that's about the time when that particular area got pretty darn cold due to the winds. as cold as it gets there. if so and you were at the point of too warm, then that's a pretty darn kick ass suit . Maybe Patagonia should make a 2mm for So-Cal

It was last weekend, early morning dawn patrol. Water is still cold; there was a guy in a 3/2 shivering his a$$ off who went in after 1 hour.

The guys at the Cardiff store said Patagonia is coming out with a 2/2, but it's taking them a while to get it to market. They expect it'll come out around the early summer. Seems a bit late if you ask me, but that's their prerogative.

In the meantime,...

9. I don't know. Ask Brian Lamb or _GD_.
10. Definitely not, although that would be pretty cool.
11. Definitely not, although that would be pretty terrifying.

"Jackass" is not profanity, is it? Heck, "ass load" sounds worse to me.

Yeah, I know.

Why do you hate my wetsuit?

As for that day, I guess it wasn't you then on the Hinson Twinzer. I thought it might be you, but I was obviously wrong. (check the 2007 surf log) That was the guy shivering in the 3/2, so I know it couldn't have been you.

more disappointed the claim of their 3mm being equivalent to a 5mm might not be too accurate. would be super cool if Patagonia could make a 2mm just as warm and durable as a high end 3/2. just think of wearing a 2mm in So-Cal during the winter

I paddled out just about the time you got in. weekends I like to paddle out for the dawn patrol shift change.

I surf with both John Peck and Devon Howard a few times a week. They are the managers of the Cardiff Patagonia store. Everytime we are out someone has to ask them about the suit. They just started wearing em because they are usually too warm around here (3/3mm). They both think they are good suits and the main complaint is always that they are too warm. So the claim that Patagonia is making about it being warmer than a 4/3 and possibly as warm as a 5/5 may be accurate. Both John and Devon are super reliable guys and I would never question their assessment. So if you are one of those people that are always freezing. SHSHSHSHSHSH's got a pretty good deal for you.

Thanks Serious Sausage (formerly Angry Lump, yes?) & thanks Brownfish. I'm trying to stay off of this thread now, but I do appreciate the bump & input.

The guys I've talked to with 'em say that the 3/3 is pretty much a NorCal-only type suit.

Isn't the wool itchy? And how can you take wool in the water...?
They use merino wool which comes from sheep in New Zealand. It's the s%#@!
Warm when wet, does not absorb odour, and non-itchy.
Any merino wool products are EXPENSIVE. In the ski/snowboard/backcountry world it is becoming very popular amongst the core riders because it works. I'm digging it. But again, EXPENSIVE AS F&*$! Still, really nice to use natural fibres.
