Anyone else buy something from O'neill and get scammed? Saw an ad by O'neill with 80% off sale and was so stoked on a 4/3 Psychotech for $67. Thought it was too good to be true. :foreheadslap:

My dad grumbled to me the other day about a similar scam he got locked into for some computer monitor. Said as a share holder he was gonna make a stink and that’s when I stopped listening and asked my mother if she needed help with anything.

I won’t buy anything from a social media link. too easy to get caught phishing without knowing the domain you’re on or SSL verifications.

why would you think O’Neill would ever offer 80% off a wetsuit?
I bought a heavily discounted oneill 3/2 off of amazon a few years ago - it was their low end suit and I think I paid 50$, wore it once and all the seams in the torso opened up...returned it wet and sandy, got my money back and hopefully learned my lesson.

Same on Instagram. Thought I scored a super discount Kuhl sale and it was fake. Credit card didn’t charge me once I disputed.

had to do phishing training at work today and the whole time was thinking "who falls for this crap?"

if you're unsure of something like this go to the companies website on your own separately (google it, don't type in the same address you're on) and see if you can find the same deal.

Buddy of mine works for a massive ag company conglomerate. He works in their main office and they have a big IT team.

Apparently the IT team will randomly leave USB sticks on the ground, to see who picks it up and puts it in their computer. It comes with a message from IT saying they've been caught and then they add you to their report for not being aware they could have infected their system. That's fucked up while also being a great training idea. :roflmao:

They train the sh!t out of us on this.

Just to make sure I am safe, I report a significant percentage of misc. admin emails as spam/phishing attempts.

i have a similar troll except i refuse to click on any training materials sent to me (usually a link to an external training website) until someone from IT personally emails me and tells me i have to do it (well after i was supposed to do it).

the only time a company puts current gear up for 80% off is a liquidation sale/bankruptcy.

Yeah, Facebook seems to have lost all control over these scammers. I see these damn things everyday now. :cursing:

I did have about a week of some hilarious "Suggested for you." links that were all about SEXY LITTLE PEOPLE. My wife thought I had started a new fetish. :dancing:
Lost control? FB?

Me thinks it's you who hath lost control over what FB is, always remember grass smokah,
"if it is free, you are the product".

:socrazy::shameonyou:

I got me an IG acct... follow some of you maniacs even, but that's as far as I take my social media.... never respond to anything unsolicited, report any and every ad as "bothers me, irrelevant or child porn". Fook em.

In the end, all I see are ads for geriatric products, must be my whole "get off my lawn" social media presence. Yeah?

:dancing::dancing::dancing:

I would however respond to a sexy little people ad, just to see what's on the other side... again, NTTIAWWT.

One of my clients has a network of about 400 computers spread across New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. About 5 years ago he had a virus get on the network by way of a thumb drive. Took down the network for about three days and to get rid of it IT had to lay hands on every one of the 400 computers.
