Pancho “El Burro Vago” Aburto, Rio Nexpa.
Pancho kicked out yesterday due to a cerebral hemorrhage. His apodo (nickname) came from his surfing lifestyle, he was welcomed worldwide as were travelers from throughout the world in his home. The vagrant burro.
Anyone that surfed in the region here would have run across Pancho from the early 80’s on, a Lázaro Cárdenas native well known up and down the coast here between Puerto Escondido and Nexpa. He was a regular fixture at Nexpa, always with some good story talk, a caguama of Victoria, and a big fat Churro (joint) of Michoacan’s finest.
A true costeño, in the 25 years that i knew him I never remember seeing him sporting any kind of footwear. Barefoot and sunburned black.
