Something tells me you don’t understand what “97% effective” actually means and more importantly, how they actually got that number.
Sadly, politics has now infected many people's trust in the nation's public health system.
At some time in the not too distant future, there will be another pandemic that will be much worse than Covid. Instead of one million deaths there will be several million. Many if not most of those deaths likely will easily be prevented except for this politics-based distrust in the public health system.

We didn't do this for the early SARS, Bird Flu, Pig Flu etc. Intelligence agencies briefed Congress and they responded . .. Once they had a chance to dump all their stonks, of course.
