whats up, i've been surfing for a decent amount of time now, about 7 years, and surf mostly small waves as i'm on the east coast. one of the things i've noticed is that i drive off my front foot a lot, and should probably use my back foot more than just on some turns. any ways i can try to change or ideas?? also, i think i need to be lower, any ideas? thanks

Parkside, son! What!?
Try a traction pad. I don't really like them, but they do force you to be more aware of where your back foot is. When it's in the right place, you'll start using it more.

Go to a really good trainer and shell out some cash. Tell him/her you want to learn how to do

Squats
Sumo squats
Barbell lunges
Walking dumbbell lunges
Jackknives, leg lifts, etc.
Squat thrusts, and other leaping exercises
Squats on a Swiss ball

without f-cking up your back. You can't get lower without the lower-body strength. Trust me, I know. My legs are weak. But getting stronger.

The EC
Ride as many old surf boards as you can get your hands on. The less they look like a modern thruster, the better. The more boards you ride the better your style will get.
