Construction short cuts? The news reported the contractor didn’t “waterproof” the concrete and chunks have been falling off the structure for months in addition to the ‘creaking’ noises the structure was making. The City of Miami inspectors last report (this year?) was the building was in “good condition.”

i NEVER wanted to live in tall building!
in nyc the towers are built on bedrock, and the construction codes/oversight are pretty stringent... but still...

How did Notre Dame manage to last 800 years with no building codes or modern engineering until it suspiciously caught fire?

Speaking of Notre Dame.....check out all the old buildings in this vid....and compare the building technology to that of today's.

Weird huh....built with horse and buggy tech w/o power tools.....

Many are still standing in all their former glory....

And where are all the people in some of the city wide pans?

Deficient mechanical soils analysis to start with. Then each step along the way with corners cut stacking up like compounded interest. See earthquake related havoc in reclaimed swamp in San Francisco area. Or the big juan in Mexico City.

it was a jewish attack on christianity. was there nearly a year after and it didn't look like they made much progress, probably another few more years before it's close to being finished

Liquefaction you say?

Any evidence of that on a massive scale in the past?

Or...just basement windows....

Sorry for the semi-hijack.....

West of the Atlantic. East of the ICW.
My father spent his career as a project manager building, demoing and rebuilding similar sized concrete buildings. Just talked to him about it and he told me that what stands out to him is the amount of bare rebar he sees in the photos and videos of the rubble. He explained to me that when you implode or demo a building like that you expect the concrete to cling to the rebar. He said that the amount of bare rebar suggests to him that the rebar had bonding issues when the concrete was poured or corrosion issues in the salt air environment over time.
