I should start a fück-up of the week thread.

This one is for Ifall. Found this just now.

An outlet timer, to an outdoor extension cord.

The line voltage prong completely melted/ burned away on the timer, and the ground prong completely melted/ burned away on the splitter.

But we don't need no stinking inspectors when we have firemen.20200227_103534.jpg

That's not even a project, that's something any dummy can plug in at any time

Should we have inspectors coming over to hold our hands at any given time? Roving bands of secret safety police?

ITS FOR YOUR SAFETY

How much faith do you have that all the free product gasoline originally under your place was actually cleaned up and that you don't have any vapor intrusion issues?

Would you rely on the developer to do a comprehensive cleanup, thereby drastically reducing their profits, or would you want regulatory oversight to verify the cleanup, mandate a properly-emplaced vapor barrier, and perform risk modeling, sub-slab sampling, etc., to ensure that there isn't a excessive cancer risk to you and your family?

So a dummy almost burned down his house with a "plug and play" and you want him sticking his hands in the service panel.

You must have family in t he funeral home business.

Licenses are a cost. The act of asking the government permission to do something is unsavory enough, but the fact you have to pay them for the permission to do something is what is extraordinary gross

Now, stop moving the goalposts about serious construction, and read what Texas is requiring licenses for working on. When you see who the ad is placed by, you can see that it is the Fire and Alarm Association trying to prevent DIYers from doing something that is extraordinarily simple because they want their own piece of the pie since they made the "investment" for a license.

This is crony capitalism at work.
it’s a cost of running a business dummy.

These laws are designed to prevent rip offs and expensive fuck ups. That's literally why we are paying taxes.

Like said, go to Florida and try to hire a contractor.

You are one of those dummies who doesn't get anything - until it happens to you.

He's not sticking his hands in my service panel, who cares what he does in his own house

Yes, that's the intent, not the reality. If these were really about that, they would be free. Our taxes ARE NOT going to these, that's why there is a fee

This is not the cost of doing business, it is a an unnecessary expense that is anti-business

I trust the regulatory committees less than the developer

That's still the case.

However, if I'm going to get money stolen from me, I want an ROI

1/7 gotcha attempt, you can do better

I don’t know, clearly ifall is very knowledgeable about this subject.

:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

clown world!
So far I know of him buying in one place with pesticide (DDE, DDT, Toxaphene) impacts and another overlying a former(?) free product gasoline plume.

I'd suggest he shell out the $3K for a Phase I the next time around. Or at least do a little research on Geotracker/Envirostor first. In fact, it should be criminal for real estate agencies to NOT provide at least a radius map of polluting properties in the vicinity.

That is very, very foolish if not abominably stupid. Don't ever invest in commercial/industrial real estate. You would lose money faster than Trump running a casino.
You're taking that sentence to imply I trust anyone
