Sounds like the WSL will likely give him wildcard entries into any event he wants. But who knows what KS wants to do?

Kelly on the QS? How old was he when he last was on the QS? 15? 16?

His board did not seem to project off the bottom well. He had to pump it too much.

I can imagine his retirement will be rewarding.

Why would he bother? He’s off the tour for a reason - namely, he can’t get past the round of 32. Maybe one last hurrah at Jbay or Chopra, but.,,

The only reason I can think for him to continue on is if it will somehow help him qualify for the Olympics. Otherwise we'll probably only see him when the conditions are epic...or Lemoore.

If he gets a wildcard to an event, and somehow wins or places in the top 3, would it give him a chance at a title? Or would it just screw up someone else's chance at the title?

Wildcarding is the perfect gift the WSL and Kelly will give each other. The WSL will get to drone on and on about the GOAT and good old days and Kelly gets his ego stroked and surf when he wants with no crowd while attempting to compete. If/when it gets embarrassing, is that when the divorce happens? hopefully

Something tells me slater would not mind wearing a uniform for an empty lineup with good waves whenever offered.

I don’t think he has a compulsion to give up his spot for someone else up and coming.

He’s does not strike me as a selfless guy.
