Yes, I am pretty smart, and I still had to stop a few times.

Why not just say heshe?

"They" gets very confusing in the workplace too, especially if one person needs help but "They're already working on it" thus implying "they" already have help, as in the plural of "they".

The bottom line is one individual (a singular entity) cannot be two individuals (multiple entities), except in supernatural tales like fictional films and literature... and "they" denotes multiple entities.

Playing along and creating confusion by doing so is absolute stupidity.

It's no different than than being forced to play along with someone's religious fantasies.
