“It came up while we were tied down on the impeachment trial. And I think it diverted the attention of the government because everything every day was all about impeachment,”

The buck stops anywhere else!Dems "ignored it" just as much as Repubs, during that whole waste of brain cells charade.
It's been proven by many Dem tweets and videos they ALSO did not take COVID-19 seriously early on.
They even promoted mass public gatherings in spite of knowing it was already establishing itself in some dense communities.
Pelosi in SF China town parade. Health Commish and De Blasio in NYC. These are just a few, I'm sure of it.
Both sides share the blame of early lack of action to self-isolate. All we can do now, is move on and try to cut off spread as quickly as possible. Or we won't have much of a country or economy left to save.
Constantly looking for someone to blame is a fools errand at this point. It's a waste of energy and just divides more. All in power were to blame.
So........here are the choices we've been given:
1. The president handled this crisis perfectly, he gives himself a "10", and we're only going to have 100,000-200,000 deaths.
2. The impeachment distracted him and that's why he bungled the response to coronavirus.
Which is it? Can't be both.
Because a leader should only have to address one crisis at a time. You can't bitch that Trump was late responding to CV19, then turn around and bitch when conservatives point out that you were taking up time and resources trying to impeach Trump.
You're wrong. But besides that, you can't have it both ways.
