its a good first attempt on par with what normally comes through here.
SHWUZ was an exception so dont get hindered on things like that. Try try again.

p.s. when should I pick it up????? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

A kid and his dad came in with the kids first effort the other day. I hope I didnt ruin his life but I had to refuse to glass it. It was beyond hope. Gave him a few tips told him to get Jim Phillips or Carps video and try again. Looking forward to his next attempt but I felt like the coach who has to tell the rookies they didnt make the team.

Dude, it will work fine, and probably be you most fun board!!!
That's why beginner shapers HAVE to glass their own boards! NO first 10 shaper's get the board good enough for a PROFESSIONAL glasser to bother with. No biggie, just glass it yourself, you need the experience.
I glassed my first 120 boards, sanded by hand EVERY ONE of them, before I was invited to be a guest shaper.
Like an executive in a big corporation, you gotta learn the basics from the inside out to appreciate the workings of the final result.

nice board. is it gonna be a tri or single? looks like it would be awesome as either a twin or single actually.
its gonna be a tri, just a new school fish. i think the tail is kinda small to be a twin.

dont be discouraged!...thats what boards between 1-3 should roughly look like.

shwuz is just a freak <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/shrug.gif" alt="" />!

i still have to get a picture of my first board <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />. i was looking at it yesterday (nose got ripped off)..and it seems i did a fairly good glassjob with the boat resin <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/doah.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/roflmao.gif" alt="" />

its got this nice little yellow sunburnt resin tint with a visible lap line a trained dolphin could have cut better <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/socrazy.gif" alt="" />

that is why its called your "first attempt"

now make 3 more

i got it from a buddy who i believe bought a few from foamez, but he picked it up directly and didn't have to pay shipping.

It DOES look like a good single fin outline...

'hummm' , would you consider an 8-10" fins unlimited back fin box, with front systems [eg: futures, lokbox, redx] so you can HAVE the single fin option ?

... just my Australian two cents worth...

' ben balcony board boy chip ' [/quote]

that sounds like a good idea, i was alreay thinking of redx but the single fin idea is new to me and sounds pretty cool. i do not wanna go overboard(no pun intended) with this board, maybe just the basics for now.

Hmm....
As I posted before, your board is very good for your first try. Please finish sanding the rails.
NOBODY does great shapes before #7 or so. If you did, you are a freak.
Now, after you shape #50, THEN decide whether to keep your day job. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
And you shape good enough to continue in that direction.
Looks kinda MR twin myself, with bigger side fins, like 5.5".

thx leed, this is definitely a hobby, will still plan to order boards from my shaper, because the surfing part is the most important to me hehe.

i might just shape for my nephews who are tiny still and probably don't need a single to double concave with a slight v at the tail kick yet.
