The media is at war with Trump and he's at war with them. I don't feel sorry for either of them.
One has the ability to do, actual damage to the country. Sorry I think having an unfit President is a bigger deal. How exactly is press at war with Trump, reporting on the stupid stuff he says and does?
If you think the media hasn't damaged this country you need your head examined.

What specifically do you think I'm pretending not to get?

The degree of direct conflict between the two worldviews kinda does dispel the talking point that all cultures are interchangeable and equally compatible, doesn't it?
BTW - this is utter nonsense

People are speculating about the possibility of a civil war if these trends continue. So it may be that not everyone sees it the way you do. Perhaps if you had more "empathy".......

In lieu of a civil war, how about we just let the red states secede without a shot fired?

Firstly and in acknowledgement of the obvious, I'm primarily being argumentative here. Not exactly trolling, but also not exactly sincere, either.

Secondly, we're seeing political violence in the streets and it is very commonly referred to as a culture war - so whether or not it's really a thing is arguably open to interpretation.

Thirdly, if/when you have a household member whose personal values conflict with the rest of the group that can and sometimes does lead to people being completely unable to live together in that house. The closer the relationship the more conformity is required.

Human nature is a thing. Sorry.

I'd have never guessed that you were being less than fully sincere. I mean, the na na na boo boo thing didn't suggest anything of the sort ;-)

On the flip side of this, people who live in diverse areas are more open to different cultural practices than those who do not. That's part of human nature too.

It's all good, as long as you focus on facts, but the conservatives on this forum (and those involved in online discourse in general) are more feelings obsessed than ever before.

Culture is all good when we're talking about complimentary and supportive. But not all cultures are equal in either utility or flexibility.

Outlaw culture, for example. Drug culture. Racist culture, SJW culture.

Lots of marriages start off with good intentions but eventually end nonetheless, frequently citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the divorce. In fact, most SO relationships people enter into don't even make it as far as marriage, let alone divorce. That makes the successful marriage the exception to the rule WRT human relationships, not the prevailing rule, much less inevitable. "Irreconcilable" is not some red herring.

The closer the relationship the more conformity it takes to thrive. The higher achieving the group the more rigid it's expectations are.

Ain't none of this new in human history.

Yes, this is why if you don't get over your disdain for people who look, think, and act differently than you do you won't have a safe space in mainstream American culture much longer.

(More an issue for younger versions of you than you yourself. Consider that a universal you, and a complete and total ilking.)

You know, one of us is a lot more upset about current trends and events than the other.

This right wing assumption that everyone else is equally obsessed with their own feelings as most right wingers are is really something special.

All I know is what I'm seeing. Hal's menstruating on this forum every day, straight from his twitter feed.
