you mentioned in another post that you didn't like this board. Would you mind telling me what it was you didnt like? I'd just like to know for future reference as I respect your opinion...peace

The dims were 5'11" x 18 3/4" x 2 1/8", its got a single/double concave with a slight vee past the fin..i have FCS K2.1 in, it's a fast board down the line, doesn't carve alot but pivots at speed

first off dont ever decide on something because of my opinion! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> unlike leed "99% of the time i am wrong" <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/roflmao.gif" alt="" />

i dont know what doesnt appeal to me exactly. the wide points look pushed back. which seems wierd to me for a fish tail.

fishies are normally used in small gutless surf because they are the loosest tail. they ride best in small waves. wide points are normally pushed back in big powerful clean surf where you are riding on your backfoot most of the time. a wave where you dotn have to start trimming and pumping down the face on with your front foot. so really it is kinda crossed between the 2. maybe i am wrong, that is how it looks in that picture.

the buttcrack of the tail looks exagerated as well. not sure exactly how that would make a different in the ride, i just thought it looked funky.

didnt mean to offend u in anyway if i did <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

no mate, absolutely no offense taken. I needed a diagnosis on why the board didn't work the way I expected it to. I got it for small waves and it surfs well off of the back foot, but because of that, it needs waves with a bit of punch to work. I am thinking of getting a back up board now for small waves and maybe just moving the wide point back a bit may help...thanks

The nose is too pulled in for a small wave board. Plus doesn't go with the tail width all that well. And the swallow is too deep like DK said. There's no reason to make them that deep.

what does a deep swallow do? if you filled it in it would look like a wide squash, i don't really understand how that empty area affects anything. Someone said that big twins would make it more front foot favorable in small surf...any thoughts?

Such a deep swallow is similar to a double pin tail, needing some juice and speed to release.
That narrow nose suggests the shape is meant for steeper waves, with some juice also, like a normal tri fin, but with less area behind the back foot.
Should be great for 4-5' steep, juicy waves.
And an opinion is just that! The maker of said opinion says it because he's sure, up to 99.1%, that he's right. He might be totally wrong from another person's view, but as an opinion, it's HIS point of view that counts....for him! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

jjr summed up what looked wrong.

it looks as if someone took the nose measurements off of a very sleek fast, skinny gun and then the tail dimensions of a small wave fish.

not sure why they wouldve done that with the tail.

what are the rails like? that should be an interesting question.

did u buy it off the rack? or straight through the shaper <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/shrug.gif" alt="" />

ordered it custom from the shaper, rails are boxy and thick, deck is pretty flat.
it's 5'11 x 18 3/4 x2 1/8"
whereas my normal board is around 6'1" x 18 1/4" x 2 1/8"
