Rent a car so you can surf them all. Dont forget about boca barranca !!!
If you cant rent a car.
Id say hermosa... that way you could hitch a ride to Roca Loca / Jaco to the north. or hitch a ride south to esterillos

If you want to surf those beach stay in jaco. Hermosa is 5 min away and esterillose is like 20ish. Yea Boca Barranca for sure my friend, especially this time of year.

I'll be in Mal Pais in 3 weeks.

No, not Jaco. Hermosa is in between them which would make more sense. And Hermosa is much nicer anyway. I really like the waves at Estrillos. It can be less crowded, and is not typically as heavy as Hermosa. Really fun waves on the right tide.

Go to Hermosa...I love that place man. Great waves, great people. If you have a minute, here's a link to a song I wrote about Playa Hermosa when I was there last year...you have to click on the song that says "Hermosa".

Cheeky - "Hermosa"

Yea but there are more bars and slutty women in jaco. It doesnt really matter, its a 5 minute drive to hermosa.

Esterillos is a fun wave, but kind of soft and easy. Hermosa was ok, closed out too much though. I didnt go that reffbreak (escondido) when i was there, i would look into that too. I caught barranca chest high and peeling. Amazing wave.

I won't argue with you there. I prefer the mellower/laid back feel of Hermosa.

On the right tide, Estrillos can offer up a challenge. I caught several shacks there last year. He did say he wanted 'medium surf' so it would be a better option than the heavier/more critical waves in Hermosa. Again, tide is a major factor. Hermosa doesn't always close out. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/socrazy.gif" alt="" />

Jaco generally sucks for waves.

If you want a cool/mellow/beautiful place to stay, go for Hermosa. If you end up wanting more challenging waves, you can always drive to any number of spots.

Can any of you provide some detailed driving directions to Esterillos? I will be in Herradura (north of Jaco).
