For people screaming about so called fake news, "Basically everyone who isn’t comfortably within the centrist Hillary-Clinton/Jeb-Bush spectrum is guilty."

"When bias becomes fake"

:foreheadslap:

A fake bias is not an actual bias, so what's the problem? :poke:
I interview 100 male students at Liberty University regarding whether or not they think homosex is wrong.

90/100 of them say they believe homosex is wrong.

I then write an article under the headline "90% of US male college students believe homosex is wrong."

That's how bias becomes fake news.

I'm not going to explain this to you any more.

That's not bias, that's fake news. What you're suggesting is that people with bias can write fake news and nobody will disagree with that.

greenwald is the real deal.

"fake news" is a propaganda technique perpetuated by the media puppets dangling under the strings held by the rich ruling class and corporate interests that saw their wagers on clinton evaporate on election night.

They absolutely can. All it takes is for the fake news to get on the wire services and then every local unit in the country will parrot it. That's what happens when you're paying kids out of college dogshit to write and produce news

Yes that would be fake.

But that's not what CNN is doing.

They always preface the poll results by saying it's a CNN POLL.

Your example is deliberately misleading.

^^^ AKA, the appeal to authority.

I think public skepticism of the media's credibility is a good thing. That group of people shouldn't be assumed to be any more moral or ethical than any other group.

Credibility is something to be earned every single day; it's not an entitlement that comes with a job title or a byline.

2 things.

1. I've read Glenn Greenwald for years, way before the Snowden days and I respect him.

2. LOL at Caca's equivalency of bias and fake. Way to paint things black and white as if biased news can't possibly be real. One can be biased and simply choose to omit details and emphasize others to suit their agenda while still remaining 100% factual. Fake on the other hand is make believe, it's made up and not factual. Both are problems, albeit different problems.

Omission of details to create a different perception of reality than what actually is = "fake news."

At least that's the claim against news organizations like Breitbart.

You can't have it both ways.

There are some fake news bloggers out there who everybody in the alt-right / truther movements know as fake, but the funny thing is that a few bloggers owned the MSM propaganda machine and threw fake news back in their face and changed an entire election, which just happens to be one of the most important elections ever. Unprecedented to say the least. Hats off to those bloggers.
every election is one of the most important elections ever. Don't get too carried away.

If a story is based on fact but written from a biased perspective it isn't fake it's biased and likely editorialized. Which is what I'd call much of the news from the major outlets these days. It's rarely "fake" but often biased and editorialized. The problem is in the age of 24hr news cycles and the race to break stories they often jump the gun and irresponsibly use these fake news outlets as sources. And that goes for both sides of the bias spectrum. I really wish there was a reliable source of even keeled boring news that we could turn to.

Yes it is what they're doing. Biased polling i.e. oversampling throughout the election is just one example.

Funny to accuse me of being "deliberately misleading" on this topic - that's OK (just bias!) in your book.

I said that your "example is deliberately misleading", false equivalency.

Reading comprehension Caca.

Revealing the results of the poll but omitting the source (Liberty University in your false example) would be deliberately misleading.

That's not what CNN is doing.
