She wanted to lower the retirement age; Macron proposed raising it. In fiscal/economic respects a fair bit of the European right ARE pinko commies.

What’s interesting about France is that the age thing splits in reverse, with older voters going liberal and younger conservative. I guess in both the US and France the older vote wants to hang on to how it’s been.

Maybe its all of the old timers who are almost impossible to fire and make it hard for young people to move up in the workplace? I don't know. Probably other reasons too.
