Did Trump or did he not make a campaign promise repeatedly to place tariffs on foreign steel?

Shouldn't people after they are elected make good on the promises they made on the campaign trail?

Agree or disagree with the policies themselves but you have to admit that Trump has probably been the most aggressive president in my lifetime when it comes to following through on the things he promised on the campaign trail.

It's amazing that you can ignore Donald Trump's corruption to point out that he promised to do something stupid and by golly he's sticking to it.

Bless your hearts.

FWIW, the New Yorker piece on Icahn made it seem like he was playing trump

Seems entirely plausible

totally agree. Ichan is Cheeto's idol. Ichan is hella smarter than Cheeto. easily Cheeto could have been following Ichan's orders. made Ichan some money and tries to assure the GOP take the Pennsylvania special election. Now it was a lot easier for Cheeto to blurt it out without both a Staff Secretary and Press Secretary in the white house.

I think Icahn feeds trump ideas which fit trump’s schtik

But because Icahn has this inside track, he has the ability to trade off of these exchanges

His motivation is solely to make $$$

He doesn’t care at all about Donald or any other issue

Pretty sure insider trading doesn’t apply to people in govt who have advance knowledge of govt policy decisions

This is how most members of Congress get rich

You're right. Unfortunately for Icahn, he's not in Congress (pretty sure their the only ones exempt, other than the POTUS...maybe some others too) or any other government position. So what's your point?

Wasn't there a similar situation during the Irak invasion?
I remember there was allot of fuss on the news about the Bush family benefiting enormously on the war, and contracts going directly to companies where the Bush family had invested.
Was this true or false?

It’s applies to shareholders who have advance knowledge. Cheeto isn’t the inside trader here. Carl is

it's because the Jewish owned media, and the Jewish owned banks, and the Jewish lawyers conspire. Back home we kept them in check.

The ethics surrounding financial conflicts of interests in government does not appear to be erBB's strong point. If Congress acts as if it wants to regulate Donald's financial interests, I'll know it's just that--an act.

Only the voters have the wherewithal to address these kinds of corruption. The majority of the policymakers don't seem to have the character for it.

Alternatively, one could invest in consonance with the policymakers with added confidence.

My point is Icahn is not dumb

He probably understands very well what insiderish govt sourced info he can trade off of without violating the law
